Magic Town Mining History

Where time stood still between mountains and forests

Explore the magic of a mining city. San SebastiƔn del Oeste was founded over 400 years ago as the mining capital of New Spain. Hidden in the hills of the Sierra Madre, this isolated paradise at 1,480 meters (4,850 ft) above sea level has been preserved through the centuries.

It had more than 20,000 inhabitants in its golden age. Today, its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and fresh mountain air tell us stories of wealth. Its flora consists of pines and oaks, and it is home to wildlife such as deer and macaws.
